New Release: “America”

USPOP releases the best song of 2025

Nothing embodies American Britpop like USPOP’s latest release, “America”. A sweeping song with an orchestra, thick with guitars and the most memorable chorus since “Champagne Supernova”, “America” is in the running for best song of 2025.

The song is about America, like a pair that have grown apart a bit. In the first verse they grow up. In the second verse they go to the theater and it doesn’t go well. In the third verse they go to the pub for a drink and talk about old times. There are probably other layers but Peter Davies won’t talk.

The song is already controversial. People have asked Davies what he means by “Me and you, Bloody White and Blue”. He hasn’t said – it could really go a couple of ways – but all of them are bittersweet. Is it a political song? The band hasn’t said – it might be, but then, maybe it’s just “Francisco.”

That’s why USPOP added the orchestral b-side, featuring Minneapolis siren Victoria Blair. This version lets the song work lightly, as a ballad, inviting you along gently. The song is just Blair, USPOP lead singer Peter Davies, an acoustic guitar and a chamber orchestra. Wistful, still bittersweet, and we’re still waiting for an explanation on “Bloody White and Blue.” The orchestra and Blair’s voice are gorgeous, might make you cry. It’s good art.

Enjoy the song – another gem will be along in good time. Thanks for being here.
